Hills, MN James Roning, age 77 of Hills, MN died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. A memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 3rd at Bethlehem Lutheran in Hills, MN, with Pastor Mahlon Bekedam officiating. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills. James LeRoy Roning was born February 20, 1934 in Luverne, Minnesota, the son of Lars N. and Ida (Kolsrud) Roning. He was raised in Hills, Minnesota and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended the Hills Public School and continued his education at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He returned to Hills, MN and was united in marriage to Marjorie Wek on June 22, 1962. They settled in Hills, MN and James began working at Ovrelid Construction retiring in 1996 after 32 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving as trustee at both. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie Roning of Hills, MN; two daughters, Lisa (husband Joel) Boehlke of New Ulm, MN and Tanya Johnson of Jasper, MN; two grandchildren, Lydia Boehlke of New Ulm, MN and Zachary Johnson of Jasper, MN; two sisters, Pearl Sundem of Hills, MN and Marcella Schubert of Brandon, SD; two brothers, Dennis Roning of Big Fork, MN and Raymond Roning of Hills, MN; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Ida Roning.
