Rock Rapids, IA William Willie Timmerman age 80 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7th at Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids with Rev. Anita Bane, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids Burial of cremated remains will be 1:00 p.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids, IA with military honors by the Rock Rapids VFW and American Legion. William Willie Timmerman was born March 6, 1926 on a farm near Rock Rapids, IA the son of Richard Dick and Etta (Jurrens) Timmerman. Willie grew up on the family farm an attended country school. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1947, serving in the European Theater. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Annie Vogt in 1952, at Luverne, MN. They made their home in Rock Rapids. Willie worked for Occo Feeds and later worked for McCormack Transportation. He drove truck for a total of forty years before retiring. Willie enjoyed going for long rides, playing cards and visiting with others. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Rock Rapids. This past Saturday evening, September 2, 2006, Willie died at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of eighty-one. He is survived by his two brothers, Ubbe Timmerman of Ellsworth, MN and Louis Timmerman of Ellsworth, MN; along with a sister-in-law, Marlys Jones of Rock Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one brother, Benny Timmerman and one sister, Johanna Ackerman.
