Larchwood, Iowa Mabel Knipe, age 98 of Larchwood, IA died Monday, Dec. 25th at the Fellowship Village Nursing Home in Inwood, IA. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, Dec. 28th at Roste Funeral Home of Larchwood. Burial will follow at the Larchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 28th at 12 noon until the hour of service at the Roste Funeral Home of Larchwood. Mabel Knipe was born June 27, 1908, at Jackson, MN the daughter of James and Marie (Cigler) Kaderabek. Mabel grew up on a farm near Jackson, MN where she attended country school. As a young woman, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and started working in a caf as a waitress and later was a cook. She was united in marriage to Thomas Knipe in March 12, 1945 at Sioux Falls, SD. They operated the St. Regis Hotel in Sioux Falls for a couple of years before moving to Winfred, SD where they owning a Caf and farmed. They lived at Winfred for several years before moving back onto the farm which Tom was born at Larchwood where they made their home for many years. Mabel became a resident of the Rock Rapids Health Centre in July of 2004 until November of 2004. On November 1, 2004 she moved to Fellowship Village at Inwood, where she died this past Monday, December 25, 2006, at the age of ninety-eight. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Thomas Knipe of Larchood; and 15 nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
