Beverly (Kittelson) Davis

Larchwood, IA Beverly (Kittelson) Davis, age 78 of Larchwood, IA, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, was called to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, March 29, 2008 while surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 1st, at United Church of Christ in Larchwood, IA; Rev. Kelly Volk officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Beverly Jean (Kittelson) Davis was born January 25, 1930 in Carlos, Minnesota, the daughter of Grant Martineus and Alice (Holland) Kittelson. She attended area schools and graduated in 1948 from Alexandria High School. She married Bill Davis on December 3, 1949. Together they had eight children. Beverly loved being at home raising her children. She was a pioneer for her generation, a woman ahead of her time. Beverly began a career as a substance abuse counselor and at the age of 55 she went to Europe where she established alcohol and drug treatment centers. While residing in Sweden she had an office in a castle and she always stated she was treated like a Queen. Beverlys family was the most important thing to her and she had a very special relationship with each family member. One of the greatest gifts she passed on to her family was her sense of humor. She will also be remembered for the smile on her face and the compassion in her heart. Beverly loved politics, she was an avid reader, a loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings and proud to be a full blooded Norwegian, UFFDA! Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her five children: Rick (Cindy) Davis of Glenwood Springs, CO; Deborah Aden (Mark) Ripperda of Larchwood, IA; Timothy (Elia) Davis of Sioux Falls, SD; Julie (Mark) Davis of Sioux Falls, SD; and Kari (Christian) Snelson of Canon City, CO; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Dean (Patty) Kittelson of Riverside, CA; a sister, Betty (Chuck) Riley of Arlington, TX; and the many friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, William Billy Davis, two daughters, Mary and Janet Davis, and her brother Darrel Kittelson.
