George, Iowa Harold W. Stueven age 70 of George, IA died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 2nd, at Peace Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. George Clausen, officiating. Private family burial will take place at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of George. Harold William Stueven was born on September 9, 1936, the son of August and Katherina (Bahlke) Stueven in Hull, Iowa. He was baptized on October 4, 1936. He received his schooling at Wheeler #4 through the sixth grade and seventh and eighth grade at St. John Lutheran School at Boyden, Iowa. He also received confirmation instruction at that time. Harold was confirmed on April 2, 1950. After that he worked on the family farm near George, Iowa. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on May 5, 1959. While in the service he finished his high school with a GED. He also received the Good Conduct metal. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1965. After returning home from the service he worked on the family farm for two years. In 1963, he started farming for himself. On September 9, 1963, Harold married Lois Winter. They continued to farm until he retired in 1998. Harold loved his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed being a part of the Mens Bible Study and Sunday morning Bible Class. Most of all Harold loved his family very much. Harold is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Lois Stueven of George; four children: Kevin Stueven of George, Nancy (husband Paul) Salonia and their children, Justin, Emily and Sarah of Long Island, NY, Mark (wife Becky) Stueven and their children, Jessy, Ashley and Gregory of George and Scott Stueven of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; three brothers: Wilfred (wife Evelyn) Stueven of Luverne, MN, Ruben Stueven of George and Kenneth (wife Karen) Stueven of George; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Katherina, daughter, Phyllis Stueven on December 17, 1965 in infancy, and two brothers, Laverne and Marvin Stueven.
