Bernita Belle Noble was born in Popejoy, IA on July 21, 1926 the daughter of George and Myrtle (Auchampach) Brownlee. She attended country school near Popejoy before her family moved to Iowa Falls, IA where she attended High School. On March 24, 1945 she was united in marriage to Jerry Noble in Eldora, IA. To this union four children were born. The young couple began their lives together in Alden, IA and moved to Sioux City in 1954. Bernita, or Bea as people knew her, was a homemaker while her children were at home, and later worked at Sun Valley Golf Course for many years. She was a very good golfer and was thrilled to shoot a hole in one on two different occasions. Bea was a loving and caring wife and mother, always putting her family first. She was always available to help with school activities and chaperone Girl Scout activities. She and her husband Jerry were together for 50 years before they were separated by Jerrys death in July of 1995. She stood by Jerry and patiently and lovingly provided care for him in the final 5 years of his life. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her exceptional peanut brittle and homemade chicken noodle soup, among other things. Knitting, cross stitching and other needle work kept her busy. Family will cherish the heirlooms she has left behind. Her generosity and service extended beyond family to her community as Bea made hundreds of pairs of mittens for the Goodwill Christmas giveaways to children. She loved working at church functions and made many treats for the children at Immaculate Conception school. She was well known for the pecan pies she made for church bake sales. She also enjoyed trying new recipes on family and friends. When you ran into Bea, you always knew you were in for a good visit because she loved to talk. Bernita recently moved to Sibley in order to be closer to family as her need for care increased. This past Wednesday Bea passed away at CountryView Manor at the age of 86. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, daughter Crystal (Ed) Strouth of Sibley, IA; and Wesley Noble of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Summer (Tim) Wakefield of Harrisburg, SD, Brittni Strouth of Sibley, IA, and Richard Ahrnkiel of Sioux City, IA; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Weingart of Texas, Ruth Noble of California, and Arlene Roll of Nevada; and other extended family members. She also enjoyed being Grandma Bea to Madison and Marshall Bower, Dallas Kelding, Anthony, Lucas and Cole Strouth. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; children, Keitha Strouth and Cindy Jensen; brothers and sisters, Calvin, Graydon, Winston, Gerald, Arlis, Arlene, Phebe, Delores, Delpha, Crystal, and Jean.
