Beaver Creek, MN Vernon Kvale, age 94 of Beaver Creek, MN died Friday, December 8, 2006 at his home near Hills, MN. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, Dec. 12th at the Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, MN, with Rev. Maurice E. Hagen and Rev. Dell B. Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Hills, MN. Visitation will be Monday, Dec 11th from 2:00 " 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 PM at the Roste Funeral Home of Hills. Vernon Vern Eugene Kvale was born March 10, 1912 to Knute and Betze (Rovang) Kvale on the family farm in rural Beaver Creek, Minnesota. He received his education in the country school west of the familys home place and Hills High School. He studied agriculture and graduated form the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Vern was united in marriage to Nora Buesen on February 8, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, IA. Vern was a farmer and had a passion for raising purebred Poland China hogs. However, in 1956 his son Greg became ill and he gave up his top shelf herd of hogs in order to tend to his son. He retired from farming in 1972. His interests included raising Poland China hogs and cleaning the buildings for the arrival of new pigs, playing cards " especially the game 500, fishing trips to northern Minnesota, and father/son softball games. He held a special memory of a trip he took with his wife to the west coast to visit relatives in California. Vern was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and was active for many years on the Beaver Creek Elevator Board and Lumberyard Board. He is survived by his son Gregory, of Hills, MN and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special family friend, Bob Kirch. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nora in 1987, and a sister, Gladys Paulson.
