William "Bill" Bosch

Steen, MN Bill Bosch, age 88 of Steen, MN died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Minnesota Veterans Hospital in Luverne, MN. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18th at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN, with Rev. Dan Ramaker officiating. Burial will follow at the East Side Cemetery in Steen. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 4 " 8 PM at the Roste Funeral Home of Hills. J. William Bill Bosch was born on August 6, 1918 at the family farm near Luverne, Minnesota, the son of Gerrit and Jennie (Ten Haken) Bosch. As a young child he and his family moved to a farm north of Steen, MN. There he attended District 43 country school. After his education he remained in the area working for various farmers as a work hand. On November 5, 1941 Bill was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater. During his leave he was united in marriage on November 11, 1942 to Bertha Keunen at her parents farm near Steen, MN. He was honorable discharged on October 21, 1945 receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He returned to the Steen area and began farming with his wife, Bertha. The couple was blessed with nine children. Bill was a lifetime member of the Reformed Church of Steen, and a member of the Valley Springs American Legion. He served as school board member for the Steen School District 1841, and also served as Deacon and the Consistory of the church. He enjoyed singing, playing cards, carpentry, reading, and spending time with his family. He was proud of his family, his farm, and his military service. He also valued his church and the community. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bertha Bosch of Steen, MN; seven children, Roger (and Carole) Bosch of Bellevue, NE, Linda (and Les) Hengeveld of Valley Springs, SD, Darrell Bosch of Blacksburg, VA, Lois Bosch of Richfield, MN, Keith (and Rondy) Bosch of Steen, MN, Ladine (and Scott) Marquardt of Gresham, OR, and Lexia Bosch of Burnsville, MN; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Grace Wassenaar of Hills, MN; two brothers, Gerald (and Vivian) Bosch of Valley Springs, SD, and Arthur (and Dorothy) Bosch of Pella, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Wenda Joy, and Vergel Warren; a daughter-in-law, Kayce Bosch; two brothers, Dries Bosch, and Marvin Bosch.
