Rushmore, MN Menno Haken, age 66 of Rushmore, MN died unexpectedly on Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home near Rushmore, MN. Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA, with Reverend Jim Berka officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9th from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Menno Paul Haken was born on September 26, 1944, the son of Henry and Mildred (Kelm) Haken in Sibley, Iowa. Menno grew up on the family farm in Little Rock Township, Nobles County, Minnesota and attended Country School near there. He later attended and graduated from Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, MN. After graduating he joined the National Guard where he served for about six years. Menno was a farmer and farmed the land where he grew up. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time visiting his family and friends. Menno is survived by a special friend, Diane Kass of Sibley; two aunts, LaVera (Don) Harris of Sioux Falls, SD and Phyllis Kelm of Garretson, SD; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
