Helene A. Kruger, age 86 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Sanford Hospital of Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 at Zoar Presbyterian Church near George, IA with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Monday, November 28th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Helene Aleida Groen was born December 7, 1924 in rural Ellsworth, MN to John and Amelia (Boomgaarden) Groen. She grew up in the Ellsworth area and attended high school in Ellsworth, MN through her sophomore year. She then moved with her family to the Sibley, IA area, and graduated from Little Rock, IA high school where she was a cheerleader,first chair clarinet in the high schoolband, andon the varsity basketball team. On August 14, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alfred L. Kruger in Ellsworth, MN. They were married 62 years. To this union four children were born. Helene was a homemaker, she enjoyed all sports, and playing cards. Her greatest enjoyment was playing piano. Her family will always remember the fun they had gathering around the piano while she played and they sang. She also played for numerous weddings and sang in a trio with her two daughters. She will also be remembered as a wonderful mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be missed more than mere words can express. Helene passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital, Rock Rapids, IA at age 86. She is survived by two daughters, Georgeanne (Ron) Robertson, Coal Hill, AR, Jocele (Paul) Eubanks, Rock Rapids, IA, one son, Douglas Kruger, Bellevue, NE; seven grandchildren, Kristin Scott, Temple Woodley, Cliff Eubanks, Sheila Eubanks, Ryan Rachuy, Tanya Rahman and Derek Kruger; great grand-children, Meghan, Tayler, Logann, Jakob, Kaylee, Rylee, Jillian, Gabriel, and Avery Helene; one great-great-grandson, Caleb and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, son David and his wife Marge, her parents, and two brothers, Delmar and Arthur Groen.
