George, Iowa Alan Klaassen age 54 of George, IA died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at his home in George. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 14th at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at George, IA with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery at George. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Alan Andrew Klaassen was born on February 10, 1954, in Sibley, IA the son of Marlyn and Doris (Poss) Klaassen. Alan was baptized as an infant, professed his faith at age 16 and joined Ebeneezer Presbyterian Church. He attended kindergarten at Grant #4 country school and 1st grade at George Public school. Alan enjoyed all sports, went to Little League and continued playing baseball, basketball, and football. He graduated from High School in 1972 and Mankato State College in 1976. He was very proud of being a member of George Jaycees, enjoyed NASCAR racing supporting Mark Martin #6 and was proud of his Green Bay Packer coat. Alan served in the Army National Guard for 10 years and left with an honorable discharge. He enjoyed welding, working in MO, MN and IA. He recently moved back to George and worked at Sudenga Industries. Alan dearly loved his family, friends, and especially caring for the garden on the family farm. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his parents; brother Marty (Cathy) Klaassen of George, IA, two sisters, Vicki (Scott) Hilbrands of Wichita, KS, and Shelli (Marcel) Dirks of George, IA; nieces and nephews, Joshua and Melissa Klaassen, Ethan Bruns, Jeremy and Jamie Klaassen, Lindsey, John, and Desiree Hinsch, Courtney and Bryan Mayer, Andrew Hilbrands, Brittanie, Jasmine and Dhalten Dirks. Proceeding him in death were his grandparents; Andrew and Bernice (Bonk) Klaassen; and Frank and Regina (Gacke) Poss.
