Sibley, IA Judy Powers, age 65 of Sibley, IA died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, with Father John Vakulskas officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Andrews Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Friday, April 22nd from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 5-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. There will be a rosary service at 5:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Judy Ann Powers was born on November 25, 1945 in Worthington, MN, the daughter of George and Harminea (Aielts) Buntjer. She grew up in Worthington and graduated from Worthington High School in 1963. In high school she worked at the State Theater where she met the love of her life. Judy was united in marriage to James Vincent Powers on November 16, 1963 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Worthington, MN. After they got married, she worked as a waitress at Freds Caf, Perkins and they also sold Bon Del Water Filters. In 1983, the couple moved to Sibley and purchased Jims Bake Shoppe and operated the bakery for 20 ½ years. Judy loved shopping trips with Barb, rummage sales with her sisters and anything Elvis. She most enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren who brought her great joy. Judy is survived by four children, Michael (Martha) Powers of Chaska, MN, Jeff Powers of Sibley, IA, Brian Powers of Worthington, MN and Barb Powers of Pine Island, MN; five grandchildren, Michaela, Katelyn, Megan, Morgan and Logan; five siblings, Darlene Dykstra of Ventura, CA, Louise Edwards of Redding, CA, Esther (Norb) Ponto of Brandon, SD, Delbert (Bonnie) Buntjer of Batesville, AK and Diane (Al) Gerdes of Worthington, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, daughter-in-law, Jenny, sister, Dorothy Bledsoe and her parents.
