Sibley, Iowa Mae Whaylen, age 93 of Sibley, Iowa died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center in Sibley, Iowa. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will take place at 9:30 a.m., prior to the memorial service at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 from 2 " 8 p.m. with family present from 6 " 8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA. Rosella Mae Whaylen was born July 25, 1915 in Sanborn, Iowa, the daughter of John and Grace (Bean) Brower. She attended Sibley community school and graduated from high school in 1934. She was united in marriage to Rex B. Whaylen on December 22, 1941 in Macon, GA. While Rex served during WWII Mae made their home in Sibley, where she worked for Dr. Raker as a dental assistant. Later in her life, she became the first employee at Marguerite's Clothing Store in Sibley. Mae loved nature, especially birds, decorating her house and was proud of her familys musical heritage. Her family will remember their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as a kind loving person, a true lady. On April 9, 1980, Maes husband Rex died, after 39 years of marriage. In September of 2005, Mae became a resident at Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center. This past Tuesday, October 28, 2008, Mae died at the age of 93. She is survived by her two daughters, Beach Ann TeStroete (Steven) Husk of Sioux City, IA and Pamela (Ronald) Reinke of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex B. Whaylen; son-in-law, Paul TeStroete; two brothers, Theodore Brower and William Bud Brower.
