Dan Onerheim, age 59 of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Royal C Johnson Veteran Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 24th at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Russell Anderson officiating. Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Full military rights by Van Anne-Fields Post No. 6960 VFW and the Rex Strait Post No. 103, American Legion will follow the memorial service at the funeral home. An online registry and full obituary will be available at: www.jurrensfuneralhome.com Dan was born July 24, 1950 at Rugby, North Dakota, the son of Harland Onerheim and Deloris (Oeffner) Kolstad. He attended elementary school in Brinsmade, ND and graduated from Leeds High School (ND) in 1968. During the summers Dan and his brothers worked with their father painting homes, and the boys enjoyed hunting and fishing together. Dan took great care in always looking out for his baby sister when she was young. Dan entered the United States Navy and served his country honorably from 1969-1975. He was involved in sales and marketing, and owned and operated his own businesses. He loved classic cars, owning and restoring them as a hobby. Dan was married to Lucy Brown on March 2, 1987 and son Scott was born April 22, 1987. Scott was always a source of great pride and joy in Dan's life. Dan married Nancy Berg in Rock Rapids, on April 2, 1993, where they lived until his death. They cherished times spent with Scott, traveling back to North Dakota and Hawaii to see family, and in their spare time, enjoyed attending car races. Dan is survived by wife Nancy, Rock Rapids, IA; mother, Deloris Kolstad, Mililani, HI; son Scott, Twin Falls, ID; siblings Jim (Sharon), Devils Lake, ND, David, Honolulu, HI, and Cindy (Al) Hogue, Brandon, SD; also several Uncles, Aunts, and Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harland, and his grandparents.
