Sibley, Iowa Margaret Boom, age 103 formerly of Sibley of Pipestone, MN died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Ashton Care Center in Pipestone. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 25th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24th from 2 until 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6 until 8:00 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Margaret Kathryn (Harms) Boom was born on January 3, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Behrens) Harms near Harris, Iowa. As a young girl, she was raised on a farm in the Harris area, where she attended school. She married Ray Boom on March 22, 1932, near Ocheyedan, Iowa. After marriage they moved to Allendorf, Iowa and later to Sibley, where she worked until retirement. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Circle and also taught Sunday school. Margaret is survived by her son, Ted (wife Donna) Boom of Lexington, Nebraska and daughter, Arlys (husband Don) Wiener of Reading, MN; daughter-in-law, Marge Schmitz of Huntsville, Alabama; son-in-law, Dale Onken of Pipestone; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; daughter, Vilys Onken; son, Russell Boom; five sisters and six brothers.
