Alice Pettengill

NOTICE: Rock Rapids, IA Alice Pettengill, age 94 of Rock Rapids, IA, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Rock Rapids Health Centre Nursing Home in Rock Rapids, IA. Memorial service will be 7:30 PM, Wednesday, August 18th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Family will be receiving friends from 6:30 until the hour of the service. Inurnment will be at later date at Garden of Remembrance, Roselawn Cemetery in St. Paul, MN. Alice was born October 20, 1915 at Magnolia, Minnesota to Fay & Bessie A. (Clark) Pettengill. She graduated from Lake Wilson High School and attended one year of business college. After college, she worked for the Montgomery Ward Department Store, as the purchasing agent for office and paper supplies for 70 stores in St. Paul, and the surrounding area. She shared a home in St. Paul with her siblings. Alice traveled extensively during her lifetime. She visited Europe, Mexico, Alaska, Australia and forty-nine of the 50 states. She didnt get to see Maine, as it was too foggy to see, so they decided not to visit the state. Alice said her brother Clark had the most influence in her life. Alice was a lifelong member of the Hamline United Methodist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her hobbies were traveling, needlepoint, knitting and sewing. She was an avid supporter of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She is survived by cousins, and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
