Ashton & Sheldon, IA Marvin Seivert age 85 of Sheldon, IA died Saturday, January 12, 2013 unexpectedly at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, with Father John Vakulskas as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Friday, January 18th from 2:00 - 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton. There will be a rosary at 4:30 PM and a vigil service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Marvin Frank Seivert was born January 28, 1927 in Ashton, Iowa to Fred and Gertrude (Hatting) Seivert. He was raised near Ashton and graduated from St. Joes High School in Ashton. He served in the Korean War. Marvin farmed in the Ashton area until his retirement in 1973. On November 9, 1974 he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Chadwick) Kolbeck at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley. The couple lived in Ashton until 2003 when they moved to Sheldon. They spent winters in Arizona for 38 years. He enjoyed having breakfast every morning at Hy-Vee and coffee every afternoon at McDonalds in Sheldon. He enjoyed visiting and having family around. Marvin was a life time member of the VFW. He is survived by his step daughters, Irene (Chris) Plantamura of Stratford, CT; Barb (Dave) Lutter of Cedar Rapids, IA; Pauline (Rod) Storm of Sanborn, IA; Nancy (Jim) Niichel of Orange City, IA; 10 step grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; sister, Eva (Cecil) Huss of Sheldon; brother-in-law, Syd Chadwick of Lakeview, IA; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Dean) Chadwick of San Antonio, TX; and other extended family members. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gertrude Seivert; his wife of 38 years, Dorothy Seivert; brother, Bernard (Mable) Seivert; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Leone and Marvin Ludolph; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edgar and Marie Chadwick; and brother-in-law Dean Chadwick.
