Little Rock, IA Mary M. Kruse age 91 of Little Rock, IA died Wednesday May 22, 2013 at the Sanford Hospital in Sheldon, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 1, 2013 at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA with Rev. Michael Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Friday, May 31st from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, IA. Mary Margaret Kruse was born on June 9, 1921, in Boyden, IA, the daughter of William and Wilhelmina (Drenth) Rehberg. She grew up in Boyden and attended school there. On June 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Thomas Kruse at the Salem Reformed Parsonage in Little Rock, IA. She was a member of the Salem Reformed Church, Little Rock Womens Club, Willing Workers, and district chairman of Poetry & Creative Writing for the Federated Womens Club. Mary was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and very active in the Republican Party. She loved to serve others and was known for her gardening and involvement in community activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their activities. Mary is survived by six daughters, Joan (Verdean) Wiertzema of Boyden, IA, Nola (Larry) Hietbrink of Longboat Key, FL, Marjo (Jim) Hietbrink of Milford, IA, Jerri (Gene) Eckholt of Red Wing, MN, Jewel (John) Doely of Sheldon, IA and Joy (Kevin) Hieber of Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, John T. Kruse of Spencer, IA and Judson (Marlene) Kruse of Sioux Center, IA; eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther (Arnold) Sebby of Spencer, IA and Susan Rehberg of Everly, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents and sister, Wilma Asmussen.
