Sibley, Iowa Grace Hinders, age 88 of Sibley, IA died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 21st at Zoar Presbyterian Church at rural George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 20th from 2 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6:30 " 8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Grace Sadie (Blum) Hinders was born October 12, 1919 near George, Iowa, the daughter of Charley and Allkie (Rippentrop) Blum. She was raised and attended country school. As a child she and her family moved to South Dakota. She eventually returned to Iowa and began working a family that lived near Allendorf as a caretaker for their children. In 1940 she began working for the Hinders family and she meet her future husband, Merrill Red Hinders. On November 4, 1944 Grace was united in marriage to Merrill Red Hinders in Worthington, MN. They lived in Wilton Township, farming together. Grace was very active with the farm operation, working along side her husband picking corn and raising livestock. Grace canned a lot of the vegetables she raised in her gardens and was gifted at preparing delicious meals. She enjoyed her family gatherings, mending and making clothing for her son, and watching her daily programs on TV. In 1978, Graces husband died after 33 years of marriage. Grace remained living on the farm with her son, and continued her role with the family farm. In 2006, Grace became a resident of Country View Manor in Sibley. Grace is survived by her son, Irvin Hinders of Sibley, IA; sister-in-law, Doris Blum of Evans, CO; and several nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; Charley and Allkie Blum; three brothers, Cort, Carl, and Ben Blum; three sisters, Sadie Leu, Ida Bechler and Allkie Wellnitz.
