Little Rock, Iowa Lydia Tjepkes, age 94 of Little Rock, IA died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at the Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, Jan. 15th at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Pastor Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 14th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, IA Lydia (Buss) Tjepkes was born September 7, 1916, the daughter of John and Bena (Schultz) Buss. She attended country school near George, IA. She married Luke Tjepkes on February 24, 1937 at the Zion Presbyterian Church Parsonage. Lydia and her husband Luke farmed for many years in the George " Little Rock area. Lydia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA. For the past several years Lydia lived at the Lyon Manor Care Center in Rock Rapids. Lydia is survived by daughter Lois Leinen of Le Mars, IA; 2 sons, Robert (Robbin) Tjepkes of Little Rock, IA and David (Judi) of Gowrie, IA; daughter-in-law Arlis VandeKamp of George, IA; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, 7 sisters and 3 brothers, her husband Luke in 1996 and their son Paul in 1986, 1 infant granddaughter and 1 infant great-grandson.
