Theodore "Ted" Molitor

Sibley, Iowa Theodore Ted Molitor Sr., age 91of Sibley, IA died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Country View Manor Nursing Home in Sibley. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday June 24th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Rev. Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 23rd from 4 " 8 PM, with the family present from 6 " 8 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Theodore John Molitor Sr. was born on December 7, 1917, the son of John and Mamie (Reiners) Molitor in Remsen, Iowa. Ted grew up in the Sibley area and attended country school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 19, 1942 and later honorably discharged. Ted married Christina Johnson in 1941 and five children were born. There marriage later ended in 1961. In 1962, he married LaVonne Small and to this union three step-children added. Ted farmed and also owned and operated Molitor Trucking Company, hauling grain and livestock. He was a member of the American Legion in Sibley for sixty-two years. Teds favorite hobbies were fishing and farming. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his dog, Cindy. Ted entered Country View Manor on May 12, 2008 and remained there until his death this past Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the age of 91. He is survived by five children, Monte Molitor of Sibley, IA, Theodore Jr. (Sheri) Molitor of Eagle Grove, IA, LeAnn (Roger Butch ) Gerken of Little Rock, IA, Pat (Danny) Niichel of Grandville, IA and David (Beth) Molitor of Sibley, IA; three step-children, Dale Small of San Francisco, CA, Dawayne Small of Riverside, CA and David Small of Austin, TX; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Leinen of Phoenix, AR and Hilda Kay Molitor of Albany, CA; and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Molitor; wife, LaVonne Molitor in 2002; two sisters, Sally DeLaney and Nora Parkhurst; three brothers-in-law, Jerry DeLaney, Orvil Parkhurst and Victor Leinen; a great-granddaughter, Shantel Vander Naald.
