She attended Westmar College and Northwestern College where she received her elementary teaching certificate. She taught at Gilman #4 for eight years. She married Stanley Johnson on December 29, 1954. They lived on their farm for 45 years before moving to Ashton in April of 2000. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle and served as an Elder. She was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She loved people, especially young people, as you can see by her many years of service. After raising her family she worked outside of the home. Initially she worked at Harmony Home for girls in Ashton for three years, then at Country View Manor as a Cook, and finally for 11 years at Northwest Enterprizes helping the disabled. She enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers and going to sales collecting antiques. Most of all she enjoyed getting together with her family, especially the grandchildren. Lois is survived by her husband Stanley; four children, Randall (Ann) Johnson of Ashton, IA; Melanie (Daryl) Schmitt of New Hampton, IA; Robin (Tony) Krier of Minnetonka, MN and Jamie (Sonya) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN.
