Louise Elizabeth DenBeste Gast, age 93 of Torrance, CA passed away on April 18, 2011 after suffering a massive stroke at the Royalwood Nursing Home in Torrance. Private graveside services for the cremains will be held at Holman Township Cemetery at a later date. Louise was born December 15, 1917 in Little Rock, Iowa to Menno and Lizzie (Getting) Christians. She married Marion DenBeste of Sibley on November 27, 1934. They made their home in Ocheyedan, IA when they were first married and then moved to Sibley. They had four children, Arnold, Rosalie, Craig and Todd. In 1950 they moved to the home place near Cloverdale. In 1960 they moved to Sioux Center, IA and managed the Siouxland Motel. In August of 1963 they moved to Torrance, California where Marion passed away on December 5, 1964. Louise then married Dennis Joe Gast on October 26, 1968. Joe passed away on December 14, 2001. Louises son Arnold and his wife Lorraine were both killed in a car accident in California on September 16, 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Rosie (Ed) Diekevers of Boyden, IA and their four children. Linda (Gary) Obbink of Sibley, IA, Pam (Paul) Habbinga of Boyden, IA, Mike (Bonnie) Diekevers of Boyden, IA and Stacy (Rick) Denekas of George, IA; son, Craig (Sue) DenBeste of Torrance, CA and their children, Georgiann, J.C. DenBeste and daughter, and Katelyn and Cody DenBeste; son, Todd (Leisa) DenBeste of Oakhurst, CA and their children, Melissa (Matt) Kutz from Fresno, CA; son, Justin (Erica) and their son Kaleb; step grandchildren, Donald Klaus and his family and Linda Carlos and her family of California; great grandchildren, Adam Obbink from Waverly, IA, Kari Obbink of Vermillion, SD, Jenna Diekevers of Boyden, Todd Diekevers of Boyden, Jonathan Habbinga of Nellis A.F.B. Las Vegas, Benjamin Habbinnga of Boyden, Skye Taylor of George, IA and Deija Rose Taylor from George; sister-in-law, Ardith Carlson of Sibley; half-sister, Alvina Molitor of Floyd, IA; half-brother, Joe Odens; sisters-in-law Tracy DenBeste and Ethel Jurgens. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Arnold and his wife Lorraine; sister, Marian Dreessen and her husband John; brother, Wilke Bill Christians; sister, Mannona Eckliff; brothers and in-law of her first husband and several nieces and nephews.
