Martha Feucht

Lester, Iowa Martha Feucht, age 90 of Lester, IA died Thursday, October 6, 2011at the Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 10th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, IA. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation, with family present, will be Sunday, October 9th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Lester. Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Martha Marie Schaer was born March 31, 1921 in Groveland, Illinois, the daughter of Emil and Pauline (Pauli) Schaer. She was raised in Groveland and attended the community school. Martha was united in marriage to August (Gus) Feucht on September 27, 1941 in Washington, IL. They lived in Washington, IL area until 1948 when they moved to a farm southwest of Lester, Iowa. In 1974 they retired and moved to a home in Lester. Martha and Gus became members of the Apostolic Christian Church in 1953. During her growing up years, Martha and her siblings helped their parents with truck gardening. She continued to have a large vegetable patch until late in life. Martha's home cooked meals were enjoyed by her extended family and frequent guests. She faithfully helped her children with "baby cases", and carefully nurtured several generations of descendants. Martha and Gus traveled often to visit family. They enjoyed two trips to Europe. She is survived by her seven children, Susan (Gary) Schneider of West Bend, IA, Joan (Jim) Dietrich of Silverton, OR, Roy (Melisa) Feucht of Larchwood, IA, Esther (Wes) Moser of Lester, IA, Beth (Rod) Steffen of Cissna Park, IL, Julie (Larry) Bahr of Ft. Scott, KS and Tim (Carla) Feucht of Larchwood, IA; forty-one grandchildren and fifty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wanda Schluetter of Pontiac, IL and Dorothy Schaer of Chillicothe, IL and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Pauline Schaer; husband of 53 years, Gus Feucht; two daughters, Ruth Feucht and Sharon Strahm; son-in-law, Carl Strahm; two sisters, Emily Leuthold and Bertha Koth; and two brothers, Norman Schaer and Alfred Schaer.
