Evelyn G. Wubbena

Sibley, IA Evelyn G. Wubbena, age 87 of Sibley, IA, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Country View Manor in Sibley. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Ashton, IA with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilman Township Cemetery at Ashton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Evelyn Geraldine (Frey) Wubbena was born September 3, 1923, at Melvin, IA the daughter of Elma (Crumb) and Henry D. Frey. Evelyn grew up at Sibley where she attended school and graduated from Sibley High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Merle Wubbena on February 13, 1943 at Ashton, IA. They made their home in Rock Rapids, Ashton and Sibley. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and a devoted homemaker. She worked for several years for the Sibley school district in their food service department. She was a member of the Sibley and Ashton First Presbyterian Churches. Evelyn enjoyed baking, vegetable gardening and flower gardening, canning, raising chickens, shopping and taking trips with Merle. In January of 2005, Evelyn became a resident of Country View Manor in Sibley where she died this past Sunday morning, September 19, 2010 at the age of eighty-seven. She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Merle of Sibley, IA; daughter, Diane Wubbena of Bloomington, MN; son, Dean Wubbena of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandsons, Scott and his wife, Tamara Wubbena of Highlands Ranch, CO; Adam and his wife, Nikki Wubbena of Highlands Ranch, CO; along with four great grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters.
