GEORGE, IA Elvira E. Vaupel, age 89 of George, IA, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, Iowa. Memorial services are 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 4th at Zoar Presbyterian Church, rural George, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Burial will be private for family prior to the service at the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3rd from 2:00 " 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 " 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Elvira Evelene Vaupel was born on September 16, 1919 in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Vera (Folkers) Larson. Elvira was united in marriage to August Vaupel on November 24, 1938. They farmed in the George area until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Zoar Presbyterian Church. She was actively involved with their farming business. Helping with the harvest on a beautiful sunny day was a delight. Elvira loved the outside, whether it was gardening, raking or mowing. It brought a twinkle to her eye. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sharon (husband, Marlyn) Symens of George, IA, two sons, Jim (wife, Eileen) Vaupel of Sibley, IA and Jack Vaupel of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Vaupel of Eau Claire, WI; nine grandchildren, Jodi Ten Kley, Cindy Roth, Shelly Coon, Randy Vaupel, Kara Andela, Maggie Jacobson, Ian Vaupel, Chad Vaupel, Jill Greseth; nine great-grandchildren, Abby and Thomas Roth, Jacob Coon, Madyson Mossefin, Zachery and William Andela, Adilyn and Reegan Jacobson and Cameron Ten Kley; four siblings, Jane Larson of Roseville, MN, John (wife, Elsie) Larson of Mechanicsville, VA, Judy (husband, Jack) Steadman of Mission Hills, KS and Darleen Cunningham of Albany, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, are her parents; husband, August; son, Dennis; and sister, Irlene Vaupel.
