John Martin Timmermann

Sibley, IA John M. Timmermann, age 92 of Fort Dodge, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA died Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Bickford Assisted Living in Fort Dodge, IA. Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley with Reverend Jim Berka officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements. John Martin Timmermann was born on October 11, 1918, the son of PFL and Trenje (Behrens) Timmermann in Sibley, Iowa. He attended Viola Township #1 country school. He married Kathryn Fisher on December 19, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Viola Township. They farmed northwest of Sibley until 1955 and then moved into Sibley. He was a salesperson at Sibley Implement; Williams Implement and Horton Chevrolet. John was a realtor and auctioneer. John was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran Church of Sibley. He taught Sunday school and was a member of Lutheran Brotherhood. In October of 2009, they moved to Bickford Assisted Living in Fort Dodge, Iowa. John loved his family and spending time with them. His favorite times were teaching the grandchildren and great grandchildren to water ski, fish and making any wish possible. John is survived by his wife of 71years, Kathryn; one daughter, Karen (Rodney) Reitsma of Fort Dodge, IA; one son, Dennis (Jan) Timmermann of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, Susan (Paul) Sorlien of Dakota City, IA, Kathy Reitsma of Ames, IA, Sandie Reitsma of Fort Dodge, IA, Randy (Deb) Reitsma of West Des Moines, IA, Leslie (Al) Penning of Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin (Kerrie) Totman of Dakota City, NE, Michele (Chad) Haeder of Sioux Falls, SD, and Erik (Netta) Totman of Dakota City, NE; twelve great grandchildren, Brittney and Matthew Penning, Mindy, Kristen and Nathan Sorlien, Dyani Collins, Jordyn and Dawson Haeder, Macy Andresen, Brandon, Ahren and Taryn Reitsma; one sister, May Feenstra of Sibley, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carol Totman; and nine brothers and sisters.
