Sibley, IA Pearl Patten, age 91 of George, IA died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the George Good Samaritan Society in George, IA. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Sibley Community Center in Sibley, IA. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10th from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. Pearl Irene (deBoer) Patten daughter of Arend and Tillie (Kruger) de Boer was born on February 25, 1920 on the deBoer pioneer homestead near Little Rock IA. Later that spring, the family moved to a newly built farmstead near George IA where she spent her entire life and attended country school. Her father passed away in 1925. On December 1, 1945, Pearl and Don Patten were married at Spirit Lake IA, and farmed together for 35 years. They were the parents of 3 children: Delton, Mary and Maureen who died in infancy. Her beloved husband Don passed away in 1985. Also preceding her was their baby daughter Maureen Pearl in 1953, her parents Arend and Tillie deBoer, her step father John Argue and brother Herbert deBoer. Survivors are son Delton (Linda) Patten George, IA, daughter Mary (Joel) Mickelson Spirit Lake IA, grandson Chane (Dawn) Patten Harrisburg SD, grandson Travis (Linda) Patten Spirit Lake IA, great grandchildren Cole, Mia and Jesa Patten Harrisburg SD, one special couple John and Lois Koolstra, along with many relatives and friends.
