Ashton, Iowa Cleo Winkel age 88 of Ashton, IA died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 4, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in Ashton, IA, with Rev. Dale Lint officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton, IA. Cleo Wubbena Winkel was born March 8, 1924 at Ashton, IA to Ben and Lena Wubbena. She attended Gilman #4 Country School and graduated from the Ashton Public School in 1941. Cleo married Merton Winkel on February 7, 1945 at the Presbyterian Church in Ashton. Cleo and Merton were blessed with a daughter Rosann on December 7, 1947. Rosann lives in Seattle, WA with her husband Jack Fontaine. Cleo was a member of the Ashton Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder for a number of years. Both she and her husband were very active in the church. Cleo worked for over 35 years at the clinic in Sheldon as a lab technician. She loved working with people. Cleo leaves to mourn, her daughter, Anne and Jack Fontaine of Seattle, WA; brother Merle Wubbena of Sibley, IA; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Merton and her parents.
