FUNERAL NOTICE: Little Rock, Iowa Eileen Block, age 77 of Little Rock, IA died Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 28th, at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, with Reverend Brian Hellenga officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery of Little Rock. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Eileen Joyce Block was born on March 18, 1929, the daughter of Chris and Johanna (Zylstra) De Beer on a farm near Little Rock, IA. She graduated from the Little Rock High School in 1947. Eileen then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Estherville, IA. She taught Country School from 1948 until 1951. On July 22, 1949, Eileen was united in marriage to Clarence Block at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. The couple lived several places until 1955 when they moved to a farm west of Little Rock and in 1995 they retired and built a home in Little Rock where they have lived since then. Eileen was a member of Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. For several years she served as a 4-H leader. She and her husband loved to travel, wintering in Apache Junction, AZ for twenty-two years. Eileen enjoyed crocheting and making many different things. The highlight for the grandchildren was to eat Grandmas Bar . Eileen especially loved being with her family. Eileen is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Clarence Block of Little Rock; three daughters, Joleen Odens of Little Rock, Janelle (husband Ron) Sybesma of Newton, KS and MarJean (husband Arden) Kopischke of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Aaron) Greve, Ryan Odens, Nick (wife Stacy) Odens, Kyle and Kalin Sybesma, and Amy, Alicia and Ashley Kopischke; three great-grandchildren, Emily and Tyler Greve and Taryn Odens; one sister-in-law, Verla De Beer of St. Louis, MO; and three nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Wayne De Beer and son-in-law, Rod Odens.
