Ashton, IA Maryellen Hatting age 82 of Ashton, IA died Saturday evening, December 9, 2006 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton with Fr. Clair Boes celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery at Ashton, IA. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Ashton. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Maryellen Margaret Hatting was born on October 13, 1924, the daughter of Anthony and Ellen (Ford) Schulte. On June 11, 1947, Maryellen was united in marriage to Leonard Hatting in Rock Rapids, IA. The couple lived in the Ashton area where they owned and operated Palms Bar. Maryellen was employed by The Department of Human Services for 30 years. She was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, was an active member of the St. Marys choir, and was a 50 year member of the Catholic Daughters. She was also a Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary. Maryellen enjoyed ceramics, boating and fishing. Most of all she loved her dog Cricket. Maryellen is survived by many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, son William and brother, Paul Schulte.
