Jack Lee Sarff

Jack Lee Sarff, age, 73, died August 17, 2008 at Hutchinson Hospital, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, in Great Bend, Kansas with the Reverend Gary Brooks officiating. Burial with military rites will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2008 at Riverview Cemetery, in Rock Rapids, Iowa with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. A Rock Rapids visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday morning at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Jack Lee Sarff was born October 27, 1934 at Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lee and Ellen (Julian) Sarff. He married Bonnie Wells September 22, 1956 at Doon, Iowa. Mr. Sarff retired from Bachman Specialties and had worked in the oilfield supply business from New Mexico to Colorado and Texas, spanning a career of over forty years. He lived in Great Bend, Kansas, since 1984. Mr. Sarff was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. Mr. Sarff was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Argonne Post 180, both of Great Bend. He served as Legion Post Commander from 2004-2005. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of the home; one daughter, Susan Baker and husband, Dale, Crystal Lake, Illinois; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Baker, Jeffrey Baker, and Stephen Baker, all of Crystal Lake, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Andrew Sarff Baker.
