Little Rock, IA Alvin Broesder, age 88 of Little Rock, IA died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Sibley Nursing & Rehab in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, with Reverend Scott Burdsall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation will be Monday, July 4th from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. Alvin Paul Broesder was born June 23, 1923 on the family farm north of Little Rock to John and Margaret (Alfke) Broesder. He was raised 2 miles north of Little Rock in Elgin Township and attended Little Rock Country School thru the 8th grade. On February 20, 1946 he was united to Dolores Behrens at her parents home near George, IA. Alvin farmed all of his life near Little Rock. He was a member of Salem Reformed Church. Alvin enjoyed bullhead fishing, polka music, woodworking, word search puzzles and going to the sale barn in Sibley on Saturdays. This past Thursday, Alvin passed away at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley, IA at the age of 88. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children; son, Merle (Jackie) Broesder of Little Rock, IA; daughter, Marlette (Earl) Janshen of Barrett, MN; daughter-in-law, Sharol Broesder of Little Rock, IA; 8 grandchildren, Paul Broesder, Amanda Broesder, Jackie Janshen, Travis Janshen, Sherri Wendt, Kim Arroyo, Kevin Broesder and Tenille Broesder; and 5 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ben Heeren; and sister-in-law, Ann Larson; and many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores; son, Verlyn; sister, Fern Heeren and brother, LeRoy.
