Little Rock & Sibley, IA Michael Kerrigan, age 62 of Little Rock, IA, formerly of Lansing, MI died Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 7th at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Fr. John Vakulskas officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. There will be a Rosary at 5:00 PM and a Vigil service at 7:30 PM Wednesday evening. There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9th at St. Patricks Cemetery in Ridgeway, MN, with Father Greg Havel officiating. Also there will be full military honors provided by the Minnesota State National Guard. Michael F. Kerrigan was born on July 6, 1949, the son of Leo F and Mary Genevieve (Frappier) Kerrigan in LaCrosse, WI. He was raised in LaCrescent, MN and at a young age he moved with his family to Superior, WI. Later his family moved to Rochester, MN. Michael graduated from the Aquinas High School in Rochester, MN in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as an MP from 1970 to 1974. In December of 1973, he was united in marriage to Susan M Lynch at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, MN. Twins were born of their union. Living in Winona, he continued his education and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management at Winona State College. Mikes wife Susan died in November of 1977. In September of 1978, Michael was united in marriage to Jane M Flynn in Preston, MN; to this union three children were born. In the mid 1980s he and his family moved to Indianapolis, IN, where he worked at the National Headquarters of American Legion. He traveled the U.S. meeting and working with Local and National Leaders. Two years later he took the job of President of the American Legion of Michigan and moved to Lansing, MI. After leaving the American Legion, he became self-employed as an IT consultant. On December 31, 2005, he married Lynn D. McShannon in Sergent Bluff, IA and later retired to Little Rock, IA in 2006. Michael was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Buss-Johnson American Legion, the William F. Allard VFW, the Disabled Veterans, the Knights of Columbus; he was also a member of Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. He was currently a member of the Little Rock City Council. Mike will be remembered for his sense of humor, giving nature, and his advocating for and support of special needs children. He had a special love for God, family, and country! Mike was an eye cornea donor, which has given sight to two receipiants in need of sight. Michael is survived by his wife Lynn Kerrigan of Little Rock, IA; three sons, Patrick Kerrigan of George, IA, Thomas (Kara) Kerrigan and John Kerrigan both of Lansing, MI; three step-children, Heather (Brett) Nelson of Ponca, NE, Aaron (Niki) Murray of Manhattan, KS and Amy (Justin) Beller of Carlisle, IA; four grandchildren, Kayla, Thomas, Delaney and Stella; four step-grandchildren, Zachary, Makayla, Lacey and Carley; eight siblings, Patricia (Paul) Ronnenberg of Byron, MN, Cynthia (Joe) Donahue of Onalaska, WI, Daniel (Karen) Kerrigan of Holmen, WI, Dennis Kerrigan of Rochester, MN, Donald (Renata) Kerrigan of Louisiana, Debra (Gordon) Reberry of Onalaska, WI, Deanna (Thomas) Stower of Minneapolis, MN and Danita Kerrigan of Byron, MN; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; and three daughters, Kelly Sue, Colleen Marie and Bridget Jane Kerrigan.
