Mildred Mastbergen

George, IA Mildred Mastbergen age 80 of George, IA died February 10, 2010 at her home at George. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at Tabernacle Baptist Church of George with Pastor Bryan Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 " 8:00 with the family present from 2:00 " 4:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George. Mildred Harriet (Jurrens) Mastbergen was born June 12, 1929 near Lakewood Corner south of Rock Rapids, IA the daughter of Henry and Edith (Cassens) Jurrens. When she was six she moved with her family to a farm east of Rock Rapids where she grew up and attend country school. As a young woman she found her Lord and savior and was baptized in the river at the age of fourteen. She was united in marriage to Arie C. Mastbergen in March of 1962, at Tabernacle Baptist Church at George. The newlywed couple made their home on a farm southeast of George. Welcomed into this household was a beautiful and precious daughter, Emily Faye. At a young age, Mildreds husband, Arie died at the age of forty-nine after only seven years of marriage. Mildred and her daughter continued to live on the farm where Mildred raised her daughter and managed her home and farming operation. Mildred was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in George. Mildred loved living in the country and lived on this farmstead from the time she was married until her death. She was always mindful of the weather and this was often a topic of conversation. She loved nature and animals, especially her family of farmyard cats. Although, Mildred appeared quiet at time, she was always observant of what was going on in her family, church and her community. Five years ago she suffered a stroke but continued to thrive and live at home. This past Wednesday, February 10, 2010 she died at her home southeast of George at the age of eighty. She is survived by her loving daughter, Emily Mastbergen of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Lois Jurrens of George, IA; Clarice Jurrens of CA; Carrie (Everet) Reuvers of Primghar, IA; Kathleen Mastbergen of Sheldon, IA; and Ida Langstraat of Sibley, IA; brothers-in-law, Lambert Mastbergen of Sanborn, IA; Charles (Frieda) Mastbergen of Sheldon, IA; Don (Idelle) Mastbergen of Sheldon, IA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Arie; her parents, Henry and Edith; two brothers, Gordon Jurrens and Arnie Jurrens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Arie) Zevenbergen; Marianne Mastbergen; Irene (John) TenClay; Henry Mastbergen; Henrietta ( John) Langstraat; and Marge Mastbergen; brother-in-law John (Hazel) Mastbergen.
