Ashton, IA Eva Strouth, age 97 of Ashton, IA died Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 12th at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, IA, with Father John Vakulskas and Father Timothy Hogan as Concelebrates. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Monday, April 11th from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 6-8 P.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, with a Rosary at 4 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:30 P.M. Jurrens Funeral Home is in charge of services. Eva Josephine Strouth was born on July 22, 1913 in Ashton, IA, the daughter of John and Minnie (Spartz) Honkomp. She grew up in Ashton and attended and graduated from St. Joseph School. On November 21, 1938, Eva was united in marriage to Mike Strouth at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, IA. The couple lived in Sibley, IA after their marriage and moved to Ashton in 1948, and they resided there the rest of their married life. Eva was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church, where she served as a member of the St. Marys Choir and the St. Marys Catholic Womens Group. She was a very kind, loving and caring person that loved visiting with her many friends and family. She also enjoyed fishing and taking car rides to the Lakes. Eva is survived by her son, Norbert Strouth of Ashton, IA; daughter-in-law, Karen Strouth of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren, Kip LaFrenz, Curtis Strouth and Joe Strouth; and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Gavin Strouth. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike in 1979; daughter, Judy Strouth; son, Dick Strouth; and eight brothers and sisters.
