Ellsworth, MN Diann Hinrichs, age 62 of Ellsworth, MN died, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Sanford Hospital in Luverne, MN. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 10th at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN, with Rev. Dave Poppen, officiating. Burial will follow at the Adrian Cemetery in Adrian, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, August 9th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, with the family present from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN. Diann Louise Hinrichs was born April 14, 1947 in Adrian, Minnesota to Andrew and Ellen (Dreher) Klaassen. She was raised on the family farm east of Ellsworth and attended Ellsworth Community School graduating in 1965. On May 26, 1966 she was united in marriage to Michael Hinrichs in Worthington, Minnesota. They began living various places in the Ellsworth area. In 1972 Diann and Mike moved to Tama-Toledo, Iowa. In 1979 they moved to Jewel, IA where they lived for 9 ½ years. She worked at Jewel Packing Plant and the Long Horn Bar & Grill. In 1988, they returned to Ellsworth, MN. Diann loved playing cards, gardening, having coffee with friends, country music and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and compassionate woman who lived the simple life. In 2008 Diann was diagnosed with cancer and courageously battled for 1 year. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mike Hinrichs; son, Tod (Heidi) Hinrichs of Ellsworth, MN; daughter, Kim (James) Ruppert of Adrian, MN; four granchildren, Tawni (Jeff) Bullerman of Adrian, MN, Tyra Hinrichs of Luverne, MN, Ian and Ky Ruppert of Adrian, MN; brothers, Charles (Kathryn) Klaassen of Sibley, IA and Gary (Barb) Klaassen of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters-in-law Jeri (Jim) Lenz of Ellsworth, MN, Pat (Rick) Timmerman of Colo, IA, and Wanda Halverson of West Point, NE; and many other extended family. Diann was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ellen Klaassen; her granddaughter, Michaela Ruppert; parents-in-law, George and Minnie Hinrichs; two brothers-in-law, Ron Scooter Halverson, and Myron Hinrichs.
