Rock Rapids, Iowa Alma De Buhr, age 85 of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Canton, SD. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 27th at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will follow at the Bethel Reformed Cemetery, rural Ellsworth, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Alma Etta De Buhr was born August 21, 1926 in George, Iowa, the daughter of John and Edith (Klaassen) Klaassen. She was raised on the family farm near Little Rock, IA and attended a country school. After her education she remained with her parents for a few years helping with the family farm. On November 26, 1947 Alma was united in marriage to Elmer De Buhr at Bethel Reformed Church in Ellsworth, MN. Together they lived in Rock Rapids, IA, where Alma babysat for her family and others for several years. She also cleaned for numerous businesses and families in the community, in addition Alma and Elmer both cleaned the Rock Rapids Community Building for several years. On July 29, 1994 Almas husband Elmer died after 46 years of marriage. Alma was a member of the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crochet, time spent with family, and the outdoors. Almas family will remember her as a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma, and as a lady that always put others needs in front her own. In 2010 she moved to an apartment in Sioux Falls, SD and on June 5, 2012 she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Canton, where she died this past Monday, June 25, 2012 at the age of eighty-five. She is survived by her daughter Glenda Thedens of Canton, SD; four grandchildren, Jason (Nicole Hoffman) Thedens of Canton, SD; Brad (Erika) Thedens of Harrisburg, SD, Dawn De Buhr of Crystal, MN, and Tracy (Shawn) Niebolte of Waite Park, MN; six great-grandchildren, Brittney Thedens, Korinna Thedens, Payton Eben, Chase Thedens, Clay Thedens and Brock Niebolte; three sisters, Helena Sprock of Rock Rapids, IA, Ruth (Bert) Van Westen of Luverne, MN, and Lois Snitselaar of California; two brothers, Alfred (LaVonne) Klaassen of Luverne, MN and John Klaassen of Sioux Falls, SD; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Klaassen; her husband, Elmer De Buhr; son, Edgar De Buhr; two sisters, Esther Klinkenborg and Erma Wagenaar; and four brothers, Harmon Klaassen, Raymond Klaassen, Ronold Klaassen and Paul Klaassen.
