Ashton, Iowa Kathleen Boneschans, age 73 of Ashton, IA died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Ashton Bible Church in Ashton with Pastor David Morley officiating. Burial will follow at the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Sunday, January 3rd from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with family present from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to the: Ashton Bible Church or Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan. Kathleen Kathy Joyce Boneschans was born on January 27, 1936, the daughter of Henry II and Emma (Pomrenke) Boneschans in rural Ashton, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Ashton through the eighth grade. She always lived in town and helped her mother. Kathy worked for the Verdoorn Nursing Home for a time and then Chase Bag (Now Exopack) until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Ashton Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school and the Salt Mine Youth Program for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Ashton. In her early years Kathy liked to garden with her mother at home. Kathy loved to do volunteer work and helped her neighbors and many others when she could. She even enjoyed delivering papers for her niece, Patti. Kathy especially loved spending time with her friends, Joyce Addengast and Phyllis Jenkins and spoiling her great nieces and nephews when they visited. This past Thursday, December 31, 2009, Kathy passed away at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley at the age of seventy-three. Kathy is survived by two brothers, Henry (wife, Joan) Boneschans of Sibley, IA and Leonard (wife, Susan) Boneschans of Sheldon, IA; two nieces, Candyce Michlitsch of Webster, SD and Patti (husband, Rusty) Haack of Ida Grove, IA; and six great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers, Kenneth and Roger; and one nephew, Brian Boneschans. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the: Ashton Bible Church or Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan.
