Larchwood, IA Peter Ter Wee, age 65 of Larchwood, IA died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Monday, Feb. 8th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood, IA, with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at the Larchwood Cemetery in Larchwood, IA. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, Feb. 7th from 1:30 to 4:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood, IA. Peter Ter Wee was born August 11, 1944 in Lyon County, Iowa, the son of Garret and Jessie (Brouwer) Ter Wee. Peter was baptized in First Reformed Church in Inwood. He attended country school through 7th grade and graduated from West Lyon High School in 1962. In 1965 Peter entered the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged 1971. He returned home and was united in marriage to Mickey Johnson in 1972 at the East Side Baptist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Peter owned and worked as an electrician at Forest Electric. Also he farmed and raised cattle. He worked at Graham Good Year, Schoenemans Lumber in Inwood, a machinist at Kooima Manufacturing in Rock Valley until his retirement. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Inwood. Peters family will remember their husband, father, grandfather as a kind hearted, compassionate man, who had a wonderful sense of humor. His first love was his family and loved spending time with grandchildren, raising cattle, farming, mowing his lawn and visiting everyone on his deck. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mickey Ter Wee of Larchwood, IA; four children, Dan (his wife, Sheila) Ter Wee of Inwood, IA, Joni (husband, Mark) DeBruin of Larchwood, IA, Kristi Ter Wee of Alcester, SD and Sara (husband, Jim) DeSmet of Larchwood, IA; eight grandchildren, Derek, Laura, Joel and Paul Ter Wee, Joshua DeBruin, Andrew G. Ter Wee, Jordan and Carson DeSmet; three brothers, Jasper (wife, Karen) Ter Wee and Henry (wife, Minerva) Ter Wee, both of Inwood, IA and Jerry (wife, Mary) Ter Wee of Larchwood, IA; one sister, Betty (husband, Jim) Leuthold of Magnolia, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garret and Jessie Ter Wee; three brothers, John, Garret and Wallace Ter Wee; two sisters, Jennie Menholt and Rena Ter Wee; and an infant brother.
