Boyden, IA David Hansmann age 70 of Boyden, IA died Sunday March 10, 2013 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Hull, IA with Rev. Robert Gordon Officiating. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, IA. David Hansmann was born March 8, 1943 in Rock Rapids to Karl and Martha (Breuer) Hansmann. He was raised in the George, IA area and received his education in George and also in Ellsworth, MN. As a young man he worked for several years as a farm hand for Alfred and Elsie Dickman. On January 25, 1965 he was united in marriage to Joan Slykhuis at the First Reformed Church in Boyden, IA. The couple made their home in Boyden while David worked at the Boyden Elevator and later at the Sheldon Elevator. The young couple then moved to an acreage near Ritter and in 1969 moved to a farm near Boyden where they spent most of their years dairy farming and raising a family. He spent many years serving on the AMPI board. In 1998 David and Joan moved into the town of Boyden. Later in life David worked at Demco in Boyden, Mathers Construction and helped build the new Hwy 60 and Winterfield Trucking. In 2005 his health began to suffer causing his retirement. In June of 2012 he moved into the Prairie View Home in Sanborn where this past Sunday evening David died at the age of 70. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan Hansmann of Boyden, IA; daughters, Karla (Tom) Kyle of Lake Park, IA, Kathy (Dale) Bakker of Sioux Center, IA, Kimberly Weishuhn of Sibley, IA; and son, Dwayne (Rebecca) Hansmann of Boyden, IA; 10 grandchildren; and brother, Paul (Rhoda) Hansmann of Boyden, IA. David was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Martha Hansmann; and infant brother, Roger Dale Hansmann.
