C. Dale Maxwell

George, Iowa C. Dale Maxwell, age 87 of George, IA died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 22nd at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Rev. Terry Simm officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, IA. Visitation will be Friday, May 21st from 4:00 to 8:00 with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. C. Dale Maxwell was born September 13, 1922, in rural George, Iowa, the son of Charles M. and Gertrude (Grave) Maxwell. Dale was raised on a farm northwest of Ashton, IA, where he attended country school and helped his family with the farm work. He remained with his parents until he was united in marriage to Berloris Mae Beek on November 18, 1942. He entered the U.S. Army on November 24, 1942, and served in the WWII European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre. He was honorably discharged on December 1, 1945, and returned to Sibley, where he worked at John Deere Implement for three years. In 1950, Dale and Berloris moved to Dundee, MN were they farmed until the spring of 1956, when they moved to a farm south of Little Rock, IA. He continued to farm the rest of his working years and raising their three children. Dale and Berloris enjoyed attending their childrens events. Dale was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, serving as Trustee and Deacon. He also was a member of the Buss-Johnson American Legion Post 316 in Little Rock. His true passion was farming and he loved family gatherings, such as reunions and holidays. On July 16, 1977, Dales loving wife and soul mate, Berloris died after 34 ½ year of marriage. Dale remained on the family farm until May 0f 2009, when he entered assisted living care in Rock Rapids, IA. This past Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Dale died at the Rock Rapids Health Centre, at the age of 87. He is survived by three children, Marcia (B.J.) Schneiderman of Dakota Dunes, SD, John (Paula) Maxwell of Ashton, IA and ElDon (Mary) Maxwell of Rock Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren; James (Hollee) Schneiderman of Tampa, FL, Cory (Anne) Maxwell of Sibley, IA, Elizabeth (Tim) Nickerson of Blair, NE, Shawn Maxwell of Sioux Falls, SD, Teri (Brad) March of Sioux City, IA, Scott (Sheila) Maxwell of Rock Rapids, IA, Carissa (Shane) Janssen of Sibley, IA, and Seth Maxwell of Hot Springs, AR; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Fern Strouth of Heron Lake, MN, Juanita (Richard) Gunderman of Fulda, MN, Ronnie (Dr. Dennis) Zylstra of Spencer, IA and Janice Maxwell of Luverne, MN; a brother-in-law, Arnold (Jean) Beek of Westbrook, MN; and a sister-in-law, Lauretta Maxwell of Worthington, MN and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Maxwell; his wife, Berloris Mae Maxwell; two brothers, Donald and Ardel Maxwell; and two brothers-in-law, Eldert Beek and Leo Strouth.
