Marie Dammer

Rock Rapids, Iowa Marie Dammer, age 89 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, November 04, 2006, at Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Dan Haggar and Rev. Katie Van Veldhuizen, officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Little Rock, IA. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Marie Louise Dammer was born on July 29, 1917, the daughter of Casper and Anna (Hasse) Herding on a farm in Midland Township, Lyon County, Iowa. She was baptized on September 2, 1917, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids and was confirmed at Bethel Reformed Church of rural Ellsworth, MN in April of 1933. On October 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Peter A. Dammer at George, IA by Rev. R. E. Niebruegge. Peter and Marie farmed at Rushmore, MN and Little Rock, IA. They left the farm in December of 1967 and moved to Rock Rapids. Marie enjoyed being a homemaker and she also enjoyed working at the Lane Caf for seventeen years. Marie became a resident of Lyon Manor Nursing & Rehab Center in Rock Rapids in May of 2006, and this past Saturday morning, November 4th she died at the age of eighty-nine. Surviving is her daughters, Beverly and her husband, Eldon Eilertson of Huron, SD; and Phyllis and her husband, Larry Rogers of Worthington, MN; daughter-in-law, Glo Dammer of Rock Rapids; six grandchildren; and twelve, great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Jennie Peters of Little Rock, IA; and Florence Junkermeier of Mesa, AZ. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; son, David; her parents; one brother and two sisters.
