Rock Rapids, IA Devin A. Hommes, age 24 of Sheldon, IA died Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at Sanford Hospital of Sheldon, IA. Private family Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 31st, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids, IA with Fr. Jeff Schleisman as Celebrant and Pastor Dan Haggar. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, December 30th, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Devin Allen Hommes was born November 5th, 1987 in Rock Rapids, IA to James Hommes and Lisa Hughes Vogel. He lived with his parents in Rock Rapids until the age of 2 when he moved to Childrens Care Hospital & School in Sioux Falls, SD in April of 1990. In October of 2006 Devin moved to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, IA where he worked with Northwest Enterprises. Devin loved looking at magazines, watching TV and fishing. But mostly Devin enjoyed visiting with people and the love and enjoyment of his family. He is survived by his mother, Lisa (Jay) Vogel of Rock Rapids; father, Jim (Mary Beth) Hommes of Rock Rapids, IA; brother, Anthony Hommes of Rock Rapids; sisters, Maggie (Matt) McDonald of Sheldon, IA and Stephanie Fisher of Sioux Falls, SD; grandparents, Joyce Hommes of Rock Rapids, Dee Dee Hughes of Rock Rapids, Barb Vogel of Rock Rapids, and Ron and Mary Jo Schallenkamp of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews and nieces, Conner and Adam McDonald, Ashlee McDonald and Kennedy Fisher; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Devin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Patrick Hughes, John H. Hommes and John Vogel. Devin will be remembered for his upbeat personality and contagious smile.
