Sibley, IA Florence Mae Snipes, age 74 of Sibley, IA died Friday, December 15, 2006, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, Dec. 18th at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating. Burial will take place prior to the memorial service in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington, MN at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 17th from 2 " 8 PM with family present from 6 " 8 at the Walton Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Florence Mae Snipes was born on June 9, 1932, the daughter of Charles Paul and Florence (Ebeling) Martin in Worthington, MN. She grew up on a farm near Reading, MN. Florence graduated from Worthington High School in 1950. She later attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and then Central College in Pella, Iowa. On July 15, 1960, Florence was united in marriage to Dale Snipes. The couple lived in Slayton, MN, South Carolina, Redwing, MN and moved to Sibley, Iowa in 1966. She taught fifth grade in Slayton, MN, Ocheyedan and retired from teaching in Sibley, Iowa. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in her Circle, Bell Choir and many other things. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma and RSVP. Florence loved foremost her family then her church, flowers, music, teaching and just organizing activities. She would volunteer taking people from the community to their doctor appointments. She will be greatly missed by all. Florence Mae is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Dale Snipes of Sibley; one daughter, Dalene Mulder (fianc Rod Wittler) of Worthington, MN; one grandson, A.J. Silver of Worthington; three sisters: Phyllis (husband George) Heronimus of Ellsworth, MN, Esther (husband John) Bearden of Minneapolis, MN and Lucille (husband Larry) Seid of Rockland, MI; one brother, Dale (wife Shirley) Martin of Worthington; sister-in-law, Pat Martin of Hugo, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, James P. Martin.
