FUNERAL NOTICE: Sibley, Iowa Ella Mitchell age 94 of Sibley, IA died June 23, 2007, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 28th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA, with Pastor Terry Simm officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27th, from 2 " 8:00 P.M. with family present from 6 " 8:00 P.M at the Walton-Roste Funeral Home of Sibley. Ella Margretta Mitchell was born on February 3, 1913 the daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Peters) Wolff in Sibley, IA. She received her education and graduated from Sibley High School in 1932. During her high school career she met and fell in love with a certain Sibley football player, her future husband Glenn, and on September 1, 1935 they were united in marriage in Sibley. The couple shared 71 years together and their union was blessed with two sons, Paul and Gary. Ella and Glenn Mitchell farmed near Sibley until mid 1960s when they moved to town and Glenn began his career of managing elevators in the Melvin and Allendorf areas until 1990. For most of her life Ella was a devoted homemaker, mother, wife and partner to her husband. She worked outside the home for a time holding two positions in the community, one at the Osceola Community Hospital and one at the Osceola County Courthouse. Not only was Ella devoted to her family, but she was also devoted to her church activities and the members of First Presbyterian in Sibley. Her love of music was well known and her church family appreciated the many years she shared her talents in the music department as choir director and organist. She was also involved with ladies circle as well as other activities within the church. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining; her delicious rhubarb bread pudding may never be duplicated and certainly never forgotten. In 2004 Ella and Glenn moved into Countryview Manor in Sibley. This past Saturday June 23, Ella passed away at the Osceola Community Hospital at the age of 94. She will be greatly missed. Ella is survived by her loving husband Glenn of 71 years; son Dr. Paul and his wife Mary Mitchell of Marshfield, WI; two grandchildren, Shawn Mitchell and his wife Gina and their daughter Claire of Rochester, MN, and Heather and her husband James Lohmeier and their children Hannah, Matthew, and Joshua of Waunakee, WI; and nieces and nephews. The four great-grandchildren were very special to them. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary, two sisters, Greta (Reinard) Henrichs and Trena Wolff and one brother, Roy Wolff.
