Lester, IA Viola Kellenberger, age 91 of Lester, IA died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery at Lester. Visitation will be Friday, August 6th with the family present from 2:00 " 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is handling arrangements. Viola Ruth Kellenberger was born on April 24, 1919, the daughter of Chris and Lena (Nester) Kellenberger on a farm near Lester, IA. She grew up and attended country school near Lester. Viola became a dedicated member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Thursday, May 19, 1938. She left home in 1945 and moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked for Strongs Green House and then she later worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Center. Until her retirement she worked at a bank in Sioux Falls and during this time she worked and lived with her nephew Ron Kellenberger. In 1994, she retired to Lester, IA and enjoyed living with her sisters at the Lester Retirement Village. She moved to the Tuff Memorial Home in 2002, and passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the age of ninety-one. She showed her love for the Lord in singing hymns. She often expressed her labor of love by helping others and doing World Relief work. She enjoyed traveling three times to Europe and all over the United States. Viola especially loved helping out her family. Viola is survived by two sisters, Della Metzger of West Bend, IA and Elgeva (husband, Art) Knobloch of Lester, IA; one brother, Ernest (wife, Edith) Kellenberger of West Bend, IA; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Salome Knobloch and Alice Metzger; one brother, Henry Kellenberger; and one brother and two sisters in infancy.
