Sibley, Iowa Margaret L. Van Stelton, age 84 of Sibley, IA died Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa. Funeral service will be 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 17th at the Sibley Senior Citizens Center with Bruce Van Stelton and Tim Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Sibley Senior Citizens Center. The Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley is handling arrangements. Margaret L. Van Stelton was born on January 17, 1924, the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Gross) Gerloff in Little Rock, Iowa. She received her education at Grant Center School district near Little Rock, Iowa. In March of 1939, she and her family moved near Luverne, Minnesota. In November of 1943, she move to Minneapolis, MN and worked at Bemis Brothers for five years. Then she came back to Luverne, MN to care for her mother. Margaret then went back to Minneapolis for five more years and worked at Star Specialty. On March 20, 1971, Margaret married Jake Van Stelton at Luverne, MN. They lived six years at Alpine, CA and then 25 years in Green Valley, AZ. Because of health reasons, in April, 2002, Jake and Margaret moved back to Osceola County to be near family. Margaret was very talented; she enjoyed painting and wrote poems to express herself to others. She liked to write letter to friends and relatives. She always said, If you expect to receive letters you must write them also . She is survived by two sisters, Marie Gerloff and Elsie (husband Ervin) Bergman both of Luverne, MN; four step-sons, Alvin (Peggy) of Ashton, IA, Eugene of Sibley, Virgil (Carol) of Sibley and Jerry (Donna) of Sibley; 8 grandchildren, Alan, Bruce, Chad (Monica), Susan (Andrew Ballard), Shelli (Andrew Rens), Jeff (Lindsey), Jenna, and Kayla; two great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephew; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Jake, her parents, Henry and Ruth Gerloff, one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Tena Gerloff and two nephews Lloyd and Leon Bergman.
