Rock Rapids, IA Jim Steenhoven, age 47 of Rock Rapids, IA died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley, IA from injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. George Clausen, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 27th from 2:00 " 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Jim Steenhoven was born December 20, 1960, at Sheldon, IA, and was the son of Arlen and Kathy (Mohlenkamp) Steenhoven. Jim grew up on a dairy farm near Doon, IA and attended school through the sixth grade and then attended school in Rock Rapids. Jim graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1979. On April 12, 1980, Jim was united in marriage to Denise Berg at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA. Jim and Denise started their married life on a farm north of Rock Rapids and later moved to their present home east and north of Rock Rapids, where Jim continued their farming operation. Jim had a love for farming and raising cattle, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, riding and racing snowmobiles, attending sprint car races, and boating. He was a member of the National Professional Dairy Heifer Association, the Lyon County Snolyons, and the Rock Rapids Gun Club. Jim would out work or out play anyone, but more importantly was that all activities involved his family and friends. The friendships and business associations that he developed were life long commitments. Jim, age forty-seven, our beloved husband, father, son and brother, was taken home to heaven on February 24, 2008 at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley, IA from a snowmobile accident. Jim is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Denise of Rock Rapids; two children, Natalie Steenhoven of Calgary Alberta and Jesse Steenhoven of Spearfish, SD; parents, Arlen and Kathy Steenhoven of Doon; brother, Joel (Lori) Steenhoven of Sioux City, IA as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
