Rock Rapids, IA Marjorie M. Winter, age 84 of Sidney, NE, formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Memorial Health Center Extended Care in Sidney, NE. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 30th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, April 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made in Marges name to Memorial Health Center-Extended Care. Memorial services will be held in Sidney at a later date. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service is in charge of Marjories care and local funeral arrangements. Marjorie Meese Winter, the daughter of Forrest William and Leona Laura (Meese) Newcomer, was born on September 28, 1926 at Hartley, IA. She attended schools in Rock Rapids, IA and graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1944. Marge attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and was united in marriage to Wilfred Carsten Winter on September 2, 1951 at Rock Rapids. Marge worked at the Peoples Department Store until it closed and she retired. She moved to Sidney in 2006. Survivors include four daughters, Deborah Piepho and husband Wallace of Leawood, KS, Barbara Diaker and husband Robert of Odebolt, IA, Patricia Teager and husband Patrick of Jackson, NE and Rebecca Butkus and husband William of Sidney, NE; one sister-in-law Edyth Briggs of Hills, MN; special friend George Powell of Sidney, NE; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members. Marge was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wilfred on April 15, 1982.
